Red Ape @ In The Flesh

Red Ape curated for In The Flesh, Plymouth UK

'Saltcycleserie III'

Performance text:

Cement mixer alchemy
industrialise mind
Concrete barriers freeze pitbull
I would choke on the chain to be stung by nettles

Steel body mouth to mouth my lungs
Panel beaten spooning
rocks artery's
sucking anxiety

The salt has soiled itself

Rain patters insanity
Soaking consciousness
scrapping bones

Nights metal blanket itches painted breath
My own condensation suffocates
clammy heat

Feel the sharpness of the moon
piercing dignity in shameful light
As the mussel overpowered the kitchen knife

The sea licks the city
Back washing secrets
dangerous and dirty at dawn
Each lap wraps lies round my tongue

A mouth of mussels made this body fois gras

Performance text:

Abort my mind
Miscarried on journeys

Sweat it out,
Like salt on aubergine
Minted mind

Sometimes I feel like a pitbull terrier
Mark my skin the territory
Make my skin the territory

Surfaces collide in purple
sweat transfer

Chew and swallow mend heart
Chew and swallow mend heart
Chew and swallow mend heart

This alchemy This here This now

This is the mint, the berries, the salt

Will the wild dogs lick my feet

Sometimes I feel like a Pitbull Terrier

Responding to these elements through practice lead process, culminating in a performance at the museum and artists talk at The Arts Company Inc.

The performance began at the museum, then involved a 63km walk through the bush during the night to Shelly beach.
